Removal of Spilled Sample Fluids
Spilled sample fluids bear potential risks to the operator and must be completely removed from the MR instrument. The spilled fluid needs to be handled and disposed in compliance with local regulatory and safety.
 
CAUTION
Risk of personal injury and environmental damage
When fluids are spilled, safety measure have to be followed to clean up the instrument in a safe way.
Stop running scans and switch the scanner to the stand-by mode where all high power devices are disabled.
Read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and follow the instructions therein. For Bruker samples MSDS can be downloaded from the Bruker internet presentation.
Wear suitable protective clothing to avoid skin or eye contact with sample fluids or broken glass.
Wear a mask with a filter for inorganic vapors if aerosols are formed.
Do not swallow sample liquids.
Clean all spoiled surfaces and devices of the MR instrument and let it dry afterwards for several hours.
Absorb the fluid using absorbent material such as sand, sawdust, etc. and prevent sample fluid from entering the waste water system.
Store them in a labeled and suitable container for disposal.
Dispose them according to local regulations.
Clean your hands thoroughly using soap and water.
Change contaminated clothing.
