Troubleshooting PET
Problem/Symptom/Message | Probable Cause | Action/Remedy |
PET/MR Image co-registration is not correct. | Wrong co-registration calibration. | Verify the co-registration using the co-registration phantom and recalibrate if necessary. |
The acquisition fails to start. | A software service could have stopped, an important component is not power up or there is an Ethernet communication issue |
|
The reconstruction does not start automatically after acquisition. | The ICONREconstructorService has stopped on the PET RECO Server | Verify this by checking the Windows Task Manager if necessary execute this program by hand (see folder Reconstructor) |
The reconstructed PET image looks grainy or noisy. | The iteration number could be too high for the statistics of the acquisition. | Reduce the number of iterations and if possible enlarge the voxel size. |
The image values are unexpectedly high. | The wrong reference time for the decay correction can multiply the image by a large factor. | Check the dose calibration time and make sure it is correct. |
Image artifact along the transversal direction. A bright band goes across the image followed by a dimmed band. | The lack of attenuation information in some parts of the subject might lead to this kind of artefacts. | Make sure that the attenuation map used covers the full length of your PET image. |
PET Image Uniformity is not uniform. | Wrong Normalization Calibration. | Recalibrate the PET normalization factors. |
PET Image Artifacts | One PET Detector is not working properly. | Use the diagnosis tool PETGlobalStatus with the list-mode file acquired. If the report has some red flags, contact Bruker Service |
