Purpose
NMI PHAN IM QA Phantoms should be employed as part of the recommended periodic QA procedure. For details on the specific use in these routine QA procedures please refer to the system owner manual of your instrument.
There is a different NMI PHAN IM QA Phantom for each PET ring configuration, that is, one for each of the 1R, 2R and 3R sizes, the only difference being the axial length of FOV they cover.
These phantoms allow to assess important image quality parameters like uniformity and quantification accuracy.
They are typically filled with a water dilution containing the radioactive isotope F18, very often F18-FDG.
