Switching ON/OFF the Instrument

The MR instrument can have the following operating states:

Operating State

Description

System OFF

The entire instrument electronic is deactivated. The MR instrument is not ready for use. It cannot be switched on by the ParaVision software. Magnet water cooling circuit and magnet refrigerator are active.

  • Use this operation status, when the MR instrument is not used for a long period of time, e. g. during holiday.

STAND-BY

Same as System OFF but communication and line power control is operational so that the instrument can be switched on by the ParaVision software. In addition, the water cooling of the gradient coil is operational to maintain thermally stable condition within the magnet bore.

  • Use this operation status, when the MR instrument is not used for a short (manageable) period of time, e. g. overnight or during the week end.

System ON

The entire instrument electronic is active. The MR instrument is ready for use.
