Cool Down

The MRI CryoProbe can be cooled down and warmed up outside of the magnet, which makes the scanner available during these periods. The cool down procedure is fully automatic.

Prerequisites

  • A completed installation where the CryoProbe has been connected and mounted by Bruker Service (Dismount / Mount the CryoProbe).
  • Make sure that the coil heater connector P1 and Bottom Heater connector P2 are plugged in at the RF sealing ring of the MRI CryoProbe. Switch the Temperature Control Unit on before starting a cool-down to prevent condensation or ice in the coil head. Please refer to the documentation of the Temperature Control Unit Z31849 for more details.

To start the cool down press the ‘Cool down’ button in the CryoTool software or on the Cooling Unit and acknowledge any message boxes popping up. You may also cancel the process here if you did not want to cool down.

NOTE
The complete cool down process takes several hours (typically around three to four hours). Consider this time when planning studies.
