Maintenance

Maintenance actions are divided into actions that may be performed by the user and actions that are to be performed by Bruker Service only.

Maintenance performed by the User

Periodic Warm-Up

It is required that the MRI CryoProbe is periodically warmed up after 3-12 months of permanent cold operation. The user is given the message ‘warm-up needed soon’ in the message area of the CryoTool software to inform the user that a warm-up should be performed within the next days.

Check the CryoTool software message area for the message ‘warm-up needed soon’ regularly (e.g. weekly) when the MRI CryoProbe is in cold state. Plan to perform a warm-up soon when you see this message. After some days without any user action an automatic warm-up is initiated by the CryoTool.

Changing the Helium 6.0 Gas Support

CAUTION
Risk of injury due to trapped extremities

Ferromagnetic objects such as the helium gas bottle introduced into the vicinity of the magnetic field become projectiles. Injuries by trapped extremities might occur.

  • The access path of the helium gas bottle must be outside the 5 Gauss line of the magnetic field.
  1. Be aware of the controlled access area indicating the 5 Gauss magnetic field line and do not enter the helium gas bottle into this area.

Check the filling level of the Helium 6.0 gas bottle on a regular base and replace it if the pressure is below 25 bar. Please consider all instructions given by the supplier and on the sheet “Replacement of the He steel cylinder” (part no. Z31913) that was handed over during the installation. Pay particular attention to safety related instructions. Attach this sheet to the He cylinder in use.

NOTE
Only use Helium 6.0, otherwise problems with the compressor may arise.

Maintenance performed by Bruker Service

The following maintenance actions are to be performed by specially trained Bruker Service engineers only and are not covered by this manual:

  • Service of the vacuum pumps
  • Cleaning of the cooling system
  • Adjustment of the Cooling Unit

NOTE

Only trained Bruker personnel are allowed to install, mount, retrofit, repair, adjust and dismantle the unit!
