Insertion of the MRI CryoProbe™
Due to its low weight the MRI CryoProbe™ can easily be inserted and removed by a single person. Prerequisite is a correctly installed and fixed Centering Tube. The CryoProbe™ can be inserted in the cold or warm condition but note that MR scans are only of quality in the cold state. Thus, you might want to insert it in the cold state:
Accidental dropping or hitting of the coil head may result in a breakage of the vacuum chamber and loose debris may cause serious injury.
- Handle coil head carefully.
- Take care not to stumble across the MRI CryoProbe transfer line.
- Always wear safety eye glasses.
Inadequate installation and storage of the CryoProbe body may result in a breakage of the vacuum chamber at the coil and not at the body’s relief valve. Egression of cold Helium gases and cold gas burns may occur from freezing on cold surfaces.
- Do not obstruct the relief valve (drop off plate) at the CryoProbe body.
- Keep off close proximity of the relief valve.
- While vacuum is present, do not store the CryoProbe body such that the relief valve is obstructed.
- remove the circular cover of the CryoProbe™ opening in the CCM door (only systems with CCM)
- keep in mind the limited bending radius of the Interconnection and move the CryoProbe™ coil head carefully into the opening and push it towards the preparation table end until a mechanical stop in the Centering Tube is reached.
