New cutting-edge MRI and NMR equipments will arrive at the SeRMN-UAB

SeRMN-UAB Secures €3.13M in EQC2024 Funding to Revolutionize Magnetic Resonance Infrastructure!

The UAB’s Magnetic Resonance Service (SeRMN) has achieved a major milestone in the 2024 Infrastructure Call (EQC2024) with the approval of two groundbreaking proposals led by Dr. Teodor Parella, securing a total of €3.13 million to modernize its cutting-edge scientific MRI and NMR equipment:

🔹 Upgrade of a 7 Tesla Biospec 70/30 Magnetic Resonance Scanner (MRI) – €1,812,566.45
🔹 Acquisition of 400MHz and 600MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometers – €1,320,014.56

This transformative investment will redefine the SeRMN’s capabilities, addressing the obsolescence of existing equipment and enabling world-class research in magnetic resonance. The funding will support:

Renewal of the 7T Biospec MRI system, including modern accessories and a MRI cryoprobe.
Fully upgrade of the 600MHz AVANCE II NMR spectrometer, including a new NEO console and a TCI cryoprobe.
Replacement of outdated 400MHz AVANCE III and 250MHz AVANCE NMR spectrometers by a complete new 400 MHz equipment.

All these new pieces of equipment will complement the existing ones. With this significant upgrade, SeRMN-UAB is set to enter a new era of scientific excellence, enhancing research capabilities and reinforcing its leadership in magnetic resonance technology! All installations are planned to be executed in early 2026.
