You are invited to the presentation of the new Mnova software package (Mestrelab Research) on Wednesday March 1st in class C1 /009, from 15:30 to 17:30. It is a useful tool for any chemist interested in processing / handling routine NMR data (and other analytical techniques) in an efficient and intuitive way. The most important developments of the new version Mnova11 will be presented and practical question of interest will be discussed.

Seminar: Biomarker and metabolomics, a novel approach to detect drug misuse

Yaoyao Wang, visiting PhD student from King’s College London, will be giving a talk on  December the 18th at 10:00 h in the SeRMN. Her talk is entitled “Biomarker and metabolomics: a novel approach to detect drug misuse”.

yaoyao

Yaoyao is from Clinical Biomarkers Lab of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King’s College London (KCL). Her PhD project focuses on developing metabolomics approach to identify biomarkers for drug misuse through the analysis of human biofluids samples and the development of data treatment methods, using R (XCMS) and other bioinformatics tools. She has been collaborating intensively with the Drug Control Centre of KCL using LC-MS.

Her talk will include the metabolomics biomarker discovery of low dose salbutamol in urine collected for anti-doping tests and preliminary longitudinal metabolomics study of “date-rape” drug GHB, as well as a glance of the other on-going projects in Clinical Biomarkers Lab.

All interested people are welcome to attend this seminar.

Ultra high-resolution HSQC

SeRMN seminar

  • Date:  Thursday 7th May, 2015
  • Hour: 15:30
  • Location:  SeRMN,  Facultats de Ciències i Biociències, C2/-135
  • Speaker:  Núria Marcó, SeRMN PhD Student

The content of our recently published article entitled “Ultra high-resolution HSQC: Application to the efficient and accurate measurement of heteronuclear coupling constants” will be explained and discussed briefly. A rapid NMR data acquisition strategy in terms of enhanced resolution per time unit for the simple and efficient determination of multiple coupling constants is described. The use of 13C spectral aliasing combined with broadband 1H homodecoupling allows accurate measurements from ultra high resolved 2D HSQC cross-peaks.

HOBS Applications

SeRMN seminar

  • Date:  Friday 28th March, 2014
  • Hour: 12 am
  • Location:  SeRMN,  Facultats de Ciències i Biociències, C2/-135
  • Speaker:  Laura Castañar, SeRMN PhD Student & Teaching Assistant, Dept. of Chemistry.

HOBS Applications (27-03-2014)

Several NMR applications using HOmodecouped Band-Selective NMR experiments [1] are proposed. The easy implementation of this HOBS scheme as a general building block into a great variety of multidimensional NMR experiments leads to pure-shift spectra with enhanced resolution and with the maximum attainable sensitivity. In this talk is presented the application of HOBS for measuring direct [1] and long-range [2] heteronuclear coupling constants. Also the use of HOBS experiments to enantiodiscrimination studies are presented [3].
